When Simple Is Not Simple

This entry was originally posted on my WordPress account on March 5, 2016.

How do you define simplicity? What is simple to you?

My definition of simplicity may be waaaaay too different than yours and here’s why.

I want things simple, that’s what I said to Ino about our wedding. I want a simple married life, a simple wedding and a simple website. However, I’m really struggling with how I want to execute the simplicity in my visions.

When I told Ino about wanting a simple married life, I envisioned that we will just get by with whatever we have and have a simple lifestyle. When we were planning about our wedding and how simple our wedding will be, I realized that I can actually settle for little things. However, when we were looking for the church I told him that I want an old church. I told him that I want to walk down a long aisle. When we were talking about the gowns, I told him that I want specific designs. However, my definition of simple is not really simple because I am into specific things. I guess, this is the proof that I’m really high maintenance and my definition of simple is far from simple.

I have been thinking about what to do with my new domain. I told him that I want something simple. I envisioned my theme to be just black and white with a side bar and a header.

When he asked me if I want a Theme-centric or a Plug In-centric website, of course I don’t really know what those jargon are. He explained every little detail to me and I can’t remember the differences any more. What I just remembered was that he suggested for me to have the Plug-in centric.

Since he is my programmer / web developer / future husband, I listened to him because I trust him and I know that it is his expertise. I know that he will choose the best platform for me. I know that he’ll choose the best for me because he knows what I want. He also mentioned that I can actually list down the changes that I want so that he can modify it in the future.

I told him what I want to see and what I want to have on my own website. I’m actually thinking of having my regular blog with some adverts. Much like this one or the one I have in Tumblr but more specific. He told me to write down the things that I want so I did as soon as we got home.

I started doing my list even if I was very sick. I was very excited because it’s going to be my first website and I’m really looking forward to it. My list was very elaborate. I really wrote down everything that I want, how I want it to look, and every little detail on my website as well.

There are simple worries and set backs ‘though. Knowing that I’m just an ordinary person, people might not instantly acknowledge that this page actually exists. I’m not a daughter of any celebrity or someone famous. I often find inspirations on their websites and posts, make up reviews, etc. They have a huge following but my WordPress and Tumblr followers are very few compared to theirs. Who would be interested to read my thoughts, perspectives and experiences? I’m just a dot in the crowd but I’m willing to take the plunge.

If anybody is reading this, thank you for visiting my new home. :)For my previous followers on WordPress, thank you for making my WordPress stay worthwhile.

An Accidental Date in Intramuros, Manila (#6years&9months)

This entry was originally posted on my WordPress account on February 27, 2016.

I haven’t written anything about this post since I posted it 4 days ago.

These photos were taken last February 23, 2016. Ino and I somewhat celebrated our 81st monthsarry or 6 years and 9 months anniversary in Intramuros, Manila. We initially planned to process my papers at the Archdiocesan Chancery Office Arzobispado de Manila for my baptismal certificate’s amendment. We also planned to go to the church (where I had my baptism) on the same day.

We had lunch at KFC nearby Manila Cathedral, then we went to Intramuros to kill time. We still had about an hour before the Archdiocesan Chancery Office Arzobispado de Manila opens, so we grabbed the only chance we’ve got and decided to go to Intramuros and spend our monthsarry there.

I have been longing to go to Intramuros for a while. I actually told Ino that since we don’t have enough money to spend for our anniversary this year (because we are saving for the wedding,) we could just go on a date at Intramuros instead.

We were actually planning to go this May. However, since we had this rare opportunity, we decided to just take our time and enjoy the beauty of Intramuros during our special day.

Here are some of the photos that I took using my LG G3 camera:

It actually feels great to be on a date with someone you love. It also felt great to be in a place that you hoped to visit for a long time. I was actually elated when I realized that I’m not only in a historical place, but I was also with my boyfriend whom will also become my fiance in over a year.

I think there’s still another place in Intramuros that we should visit. It was a certain area that we visited on our field trip when I was in grade school or high school. I remembered that there were kalesa(s) at that place. I could be dreaming or just remembering something from a movie or a TV episode. I’m not really sure. I think we have to go back and try to find it again. Or probably the place has changed over time and I won’t find it anymore. It’s been ages, after all.

There’s a feeling of contentment when I visit historical places or museums. I guess, I may not be as adventurous as the others but the nationalist in me really enjoyed this simple getaway. I hope to go back soon with my husband. 🙂

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones / Shadowhunters

Here are random stuff from reminders, what transpired today and my second TV Series review.

DISCLAIMER: My personal review for this TV series is based on my personal character preferences or biases, book recognition, and movie adaptation. I wasn’t paid to make a review for the said program.

Ino downloaded Shadowhunters (The Mortal instrument’s City of Bones TV series) recently and we’re supposed to be on our 4th episode. We haven’t watched it yet because we were sidetracked by other things. I think he got intrigued by it because we’ve seen the The Mortal instruments: City of Bones by Cassandra Clare as a movie before.

I have been reading tons of YA series and frankly, I already forgot the plot of this series. All i know is that I was on the 2nd book (City of Ashes) already and I wasn’t able to finish it. That’s why it’s included in my goals for this year. So speaking of goals, I really have to start from the 1st book because I totally forgot who’s who and what the storyline is about. I guess I got too overwhelmed by the installments for the Mortal Instruments that’s why I didn’t get to finish it.

I was actually disappointed that they didn’t cast the same actors from the movie in the TV series. My first impression was that all the characters on the TV series weren’t as interesting as those in the movie and even in my imagination. In my opinion, if they are aiming for a ruggedly handsome lead, they shouldn’t have changed the actor in the first place.

I forgot to mention a positive feedback which I only realized as Ino and I were watching Episode 4 and Episode 5.

Godfrey Gao (TMI: CoB) vs. Harry Shum, Jr. (Shdowhunters)
Godfrey Gao (TMI: CoB) vs. Harry Shum, Jr. (Shdowhunters)

Godfrey Gao as Magnus Bane in the The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie.
Godfrey Gao as Magnus Bane in the The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones movie.

Magnus Bane in the The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones the movie was so-so. I’m obviously not a fan of Godfrey Gao. In my opinion, he could pass as Magnus Bane and I can just forget him as soon as the movie finishes. His fashion style was a giveaway that he’s gay. It is part of the book and the story and there’s nothing wrong with that. But for me, his portrayal to the character in the movie was just barely there. He has a significant role in the series and the movie but he wasn’t as intriguing as the others. He has the edgy look and he was age appropriate, as he is mature and was supposed to be on the same age group with Jocelyn Fray.

Harry Shum, Jr. as Magnus Bane in the Shadowhunters TV series

However, it was a revelation, when I heard about Harry Shum, Jr. a.k.a Mike Chang of GLEE portray Magnus Bane in the Shadowhunters TV series.

Perhaps it became interesting because Harry Shum, Jr. is familiar to me. Perhaps it’s because I know that he can transition from a GLEE club member to another Asian who will represent a major role in  a series. No, not being a racist here. It’s just that, Magnus Bane is clearly an Asian in the book and Freeform made a good decision in choosing Harry Shum, Jr. as an addition to the TV series.

Harry is fresher and younger. I still have doubts though if he can portray the character effectively. If I’m going to base my first impression on his character for the past three episodes, I can say that he can’t be the same age as the mother of Clary but he can be a good romantic partner for Alec.

He and the actor who portrays Alec Lightwood in Shadowhunters add a comic relief in the series. They can be effective in some way and they can actually add flavor to the series. I actually like the actor who portrays Alec in the TV series.

They actually did great in choosing Matthew Daddario as Alec Lightwood in the TV series. He’s more handsome and fresh looking than Kevin Zegers in TMI:CoB. He was the only character that I approved of when I watched the pilot of the Shadowhunters. I think Kevin Zegers in the TMI:COB was pretty mature for the role, but considering he is Isabelle’s brother, I supposed that it’s okay.

Matthew Daddario a.k.a Alec Lighwood, is one of the reasons why I’m still watching this series. Aside from him, I also look forward to Magnus Banes’ story arc and importance in the series. So far they are the only reasons why I am watching this show.

Jemima West (TMI: CoB) bs. Emeraude Toubia (Shadowhunters)
Jemima West (TMI: CoB) bs. Emeraude Toubia (Shadowhunters)

On the other hand, I prefer Jemima West (TMI:CoB movie actress) better than Emeraude Toubia. Emeraude is beautiful and she is a good actress. Considering her role as someone who needs to seduce other downworlders to help Clary, I think Freeform did a good job in casting her. However, as for my personal opinion, Jemima West could do more justice as Isabelle Lightwood in the TV series.

Isabelle Lightwood in Shadowhunters is very sexy to the point that she can be a pornstar already. It actually makes me think that Ino wants to watch it because of how provocative this character looks with her slutty outfit. But it’s not a big deal because I know that Freeform is just following the books and it’s also their subtle way to show the defunct ABC Family that they can attract more viewers if they make the characters more interesting.

I’m still not a fan of this series but it can motivate me to read the book more. The episode 5 reminds me heavily of The Vampire Diaries TV series. I’m also not a fan of TVD and didn’t finish the first season. I also didn’t read the book because I find the story too cheesy.

Anyway, back to Shadowhunters, here comes my rants for the characters portraying in the TV series:

Different actors on the second pic?
Different actors on the second pic?

Okay they look good here but they don’t have the same appeal in the TV series
Okay they look good here but they don’t have the same appeal in the TV series

Jace should be ruggedly handsome but the Jace on the TV series clearly doesn’t have that vibe.Like, what the heck is that guy doing there? Or maybe he’s just not my type. I hope that they would develop the other characters more.

Robert Sheehan (TMI: City of Bones movie) vs. Alberto Rosende (Shadowhunters TV series)
Robert Sheehan (TMI: City of Bones movie) vs. Alberto Rosende (Shadowhunters TV series)

Simon on the TV series looks too matured; While if you watch the TMI:CoB the movie you would see how young and fresh Robert Sheehan was. Because I would really consider Simon as Clary’s geeky bestfriend if it was Robert and not Alberto in the TV series.

Katherine Mcnamara as Clary Fray in Shadowhunters

Taylor Momsen Gossip Girl’s Jenny Humphrey (can’t find other photos with the resemblance but you get the point.
Taylor Momsen Gossip Girl’s Jenny Humphrey (can’t find other photos with the resemblance but you get the point.

Clary Fray on the series looks like a Jenny Humphrey rip off. Enough said. She’s pretty but she has that cheerleader vibe. Not that I hate cheerleaders.

I hope this TV series will still improve. Moreover, I’m still willing to watch it even if I haven’t finished reading the books yet. I don’t personally hate the actors. I just hate that the TV series didn’t cast the same characters in the movie. It would have been better.

I guess they also considered new faces for the TV series. They might have considered their budget too. I dunno. Perhaps it’s because of the movie or TV series rights, or probably it’s the producer’s call. I’m not sure but I hope thst I’d get to fall in love with these characters after a few episodes or before its mid-season break.

DISCLAIMER: I’m pretty much biased about this because I liked the movie and it made me read a couple of books. This post is just about my opinion. I haven’t watched any reviews or read some feedbacks about the series ‘though. I’m just not a fan of the chosen actors and actresses. It would have been better though, if they have chosen an actor or an actress to portray the same role for a better recall or a small nod to the movie.

All in all I give this TV series a 2 out of 5 rating. I will continue watching it but I don’t think that I will want to watch it as soon as it airs or as soon as it is available in the Philippines.

So since I am going circles… let’s talk about a different topic!

I’d like to personally congratulate myself for uploading a new signature that I will be using starting tonight.:)

I just noticed that my boosters for my plan are redundant and weird. I had it changed this evening but I still have to wait for about a day for the changes to happen. Globe’s GServices kept on closing when I’m trying to use it. It sucks.😦

Oh, I forgot to call the church about my affidavit! I was very busy this afternoon that it slipped my mind. :O

Anyway, I’ve got to hit the sack because I still have to work tomorrow!:)

Laser, Bingsu, and Bibimbap

This entry was originally posted on my WordPress account on February 1, 2016.

Happy Sunday!

I’ve been inactive for sometime because of work and the wedding planning. Now that I’m back, I’d like to feature my first skin care clinic, my go-to mall and two go-to places for the best Korean food experience in Mandaluyong City, Philippines.

DISCLAIMER: These establishments didn’t pay me to advertise their services. I am just very satisfied with their services and products that’s why I’m blogging about them. If you wish to be featured in my blog, please contact me through my about me page.:)

Today’s plan was actually to go to Living Skin Laser Center at StarMall, Mandaluyong for my Diode Laser Hair Removal. I’ve been planning to go since the last quarter of 2015 and I’m glad that FINALLY I can have my first treatment today.

Yep! It was for my underarms! And what a way to start the year, huh? I’ve heard about IPL hair removal from my co-workers early last year and ever since then I became curious about it.

I’ve never really tried waxing or anything aside from plucking and shaving. I am also the type who doesn’t want to follow the trend. I was also very conscious in putting my arms up. I dread wearing a sleeveless or any clothes that would reveal my underarms. Yeah, we’re not just talking about hair removal here.

Living Skin Laser Center offers Diode Laser Hair Removal and Whitening for P1000 each session. I inquired about the treatment several times that the staff already recognized me when I visited the clinic this afternoon. It was painless and quick! The session only took me less than 30 minutes. The staff actually said that it would only take 15 minutes but since I got so comfortable with them, I took the time to chat with my therapist.

Julie is one of my therapists. She told me that she graduated from TESDA while we were having a small talk (I was too nervous because it was my first time and I really don’t know what to expect so, I just chatted my way through the treatment.) She handled the session with care and she was very respectful. She was also friendly and nice. I felt very happy with our session that I gave her a tip (which I seldom do) for a job well done.:)

I’m actually the type who always have high expectations on services that I pay for and receiving a good customer service is essential for me. That’s why I’m very happy with my first laser session and I’m blogging about it now.

So, that’s that. I’m not gonna take a picture of my armpits but I just remembered that they actually did that before we started the laser treatment.:) Imagine my embarrassment to them. :/

So, on to our next trip! We were actually sidetracked by this cafe that Ino and I usually pass by. It is located in the Ground Floor of Cityland Condominium in Mandaluyong City near Crossing (EDSA Shaw.)

cafe7ate9
Here’s how the front of the cafe looks. I was too shy and nervous that someone might grab my phone and steal it because we’re outside that’s why I wasn’t able to adjust my camera phone’s quality. It was a quick shot because we haven’t asked the owner’s permission yet when we took this photo. There were some people who were also passing by in front of the shop that’s why I even felt more embarrassed.
cafe7ate9a
This was our spot this afternoon. We dined in at around 5-6 PM. We were in a hurry and got so mesmerized by the food that I haven’t thought of taking some pictures at that time.

cafe7ate9b
Coffee, Bingsus, Mochi, Cakes, etc. The cafe is loaded with customers!

We’ve been talking about this cafe because it is always close when we pass by and when we had the chance to check it out, lo and behold… It is OPEN!! Hahaha!

We know that it is a Korean Cafe. What we didn’t expect was that Mr. Kwon, the owner of Cafe 7ate9 would actually serve our order. We ordered their Original Bingsu because the Mango Bingsu is unavailable. We also ordered a Blackberry Cheesecake and a Mochi to complete our merienda.

Have you ever tasted heaven? I haven’t. I guess I’d never really know what it was like to be in heaven. But the mere taste of this yummy Bingsu made me think that people with heavy problems and loneliness won’t feel any problems or loneliness at all when they get a bite of this yummy Original Bingsu by 7ate9. It’s creamy, chewy and delicious! It is not that sweet but it takes away your stress and you won’t get enough of it. The Bingsu costs around P250, the mochi is around P30-35 and the Blueberry Cheesecake costs around P150-180 pesos. I’m sorry because I really can’t remember the prices.😥

Mr. Kwon was very nice and easy to talk to. He’s very approachable. Though I can sense that he’s a bit shy and uneasy when I kept on asking him questions. I told him that I teach English to Koreans and disclosed my company’s name. He might be nervous or uncomfortable because he didn’t expect that a customer would strike up a conversation on that day. Regardless, it was a nice experience.

It actually sparked a motivation in me. Lately, I’ve been getting down and stressed out with the recent turn of events in the office. For the fourth time, I didn’t get the promotion that I’ve been eyeing since last year. I guess it was high time for me to give up that dream for now and enjoy the teaching experience. After all, the reason why I’m in this industry up to this date is to just have fun and share my knowledge to my students.

What with all the ease that the company is doing to make the teachers comfortable, I guess I also need to give back by exerting effort that the students deserve. I also deserve to enjoy the ride and veer away from all the negativity that I’ve been holding on since last year. I guess, I just have to accept it. It wasn’t meant for me and I will deserve a better shot at something next time. After all, I’m going to settle down and be with the person who appreciates every part of me.

So much drama, huh?

Anyway, Ino and I had an all Korean food trip for our Sundate. We went to Honey’s Kimchi in EDSA Shangri-La Mall in Shaw, Mandaluyong City to have an early dinner.

Shangri-La was my go-to mall when I was a kid. Back when my Mama Babes, my aunt and legal mom, was still alive, we would often go to that mall every week to go grocery shopping at Rustan’s and shop clothes at Crossing’s. It was in the 1990’s and everything was smooth sailing and perfect. But then, things happen and she’s now resting in peace in heaven.

I’ve never felt more comfortable and at home elsewhere. I was actually quite curious about the fuss in SM Megamall when I was younger. My cousins rave about it. My other cousins would rave about Landmark and Glorietta, but I never really appreciated those places unlike Shangri-La.

Everything felt in place when I’m at Shangri-La. I guess it’s because I still feel Mama Babes shopping with me in that place every time I go there. I always feel secured when I’m at that place and I just can’t really explain how I feel when I’m there.

So, yeah. My family and relatives used to go to St. Francis to hear the 12 o’clock mass. We like grabbing a bite at the food court and hanging out on Sundays. It was one of the memories that I treasure the most.

Korean food has been my comfort food since I started working in the ESL field. It’s my go-to food when I’m stressed out. It may be a bit pricey compared to an ice cream but the comfort that it provides after a long day is worth every penny. Legit Korean restaurants are very homey too. They provide variety of side dishes before they serve the main meal that you ordered. I am pretty picky when I eat Kimchi too. I love fresh Kimchi and Fishcakes.:)

My biological mom and I like eating at Honey’s Kimchi since I was young. Honey’s Kimchi was our go-to place when we want a heavy lunch with a delicious soup. We used to order their Chicken with Bean Sprouts meal often.

I discovered Honey’s Kimchi’s Kimchi a few years back. My biological mom and I never tried Kimchi although it was one of the best-selling food that they have. Hello, Honey’s Kimchi nga di ba?

I’ve known my biomom as a picky eater. She doesn’t like unconventional food. She’d always say no to foreign food. And it was just recently when she started liking Tokyo Tokyo’s California Maki and Chinese restaurant’s Hakao.

I invited her to eat at a Korean Restaurant at Escriva, Pasig City once. However, she didn’t enjoy the food as much as Ino and I did and she just ended up eating the fried chicken that we ordered at that time. So, basically she didn’t appreciate Korean food that much so we just ordered a safe meal for her.

I guess, I got the trait of being a picky eater from my mom. But these days, I’m trying to challenge my taste buds to some new taste experience. And ever since I started working for a Korean company, I developed an acquired taste to spicy foods. I also became so eager to eat vegetables because of so many Korean dishes that I cannot live without now.

One of the best Korean dishes that I love is the Bibimbap.

I am not a solid fan of vegetables when I was young. I am picky in eating Filipino dishes most especially if those dishes have vegetables in it. But ever since I started eating Kimchi and since discovering these awesome dishes, it just became a part of me, — A part of the Korean food experience that I always happily share to my students.

So, Ino and I went to Honey’s Kimchi in EDSA Shangri-La Mall’s food court. We basically have Bibimbap as our main dish and a side dish of Kimchi for dinner.

The elders are not my relatives. They are just customers. I took this picture to show how the stall looks like. I’m not really sure if I should call it a stall or a restaurant but anyway, here’s how Honey’s Kimchi looks like.

This is the mouthwatering Bibimbap of Honey’s Kimchi. It was so delicious but tonight, the rice was too watery for my taste so I had a bit of a hard time in mixing the ingredients together. All in all, I still recommend their Bibimbap.

For the top view, here are the ingredients of the Bibimbap. It was so nice but I wasn’t able to mix it right so the Gochujang was too spicy for me. Friendly reminder: You have to have a glass of water when eating spicy foods like this.

So that was how my Sundate went. I got a bit dramatic with some stuff but I’m glad to share every bit of it. This one is a long post but I hope that you enjoyed reading it!:)

Goals For 2016: A Semi-New Year’s Resolution

This entry was originally posted on my WordPress account on January 3, 2016.

SOURCE: http://www.amomentwithfranca.com

A year ago, I posted a blog about not having a New Year’s Resolution. I read it again and realized that I still believe in what K Brosas said on her Instagram post.

Change shouldn’t be a fad every January 1. It should be a start of your vow to yourself. If you want to change, it shouldn’t be because it’s a new year. It should be because you really want to change for the better.

A lot of my contemporaries are done writing their New Year’s Resolution. And since I’m the type who doesn’t want to join the hype, I am writing the things I want to change and achieve for this year.

It still hasn’t occurred to me that it’s already 2016. It’s also the same with how I feel about being engaged. I still couldn’t believe that in a year or so, I would be a Missus.

If I must admit, I can say that I am a very uptight person. And as much as I want to be spontaneous, there’s a huge part of me who also wants to plan things ahead. I always tend to get very frustrated and upset whenever things don’t happen the way I plan it to be.

I’d like to think that this post will serve as my reminder and my list of goals for this year.

As I’ve written in my previous blog post, I have been through ups and downs last year and I was really devastated when I didn’t get the team leader post. I still want to be a team leader in our company. So I will still try my best to get the job this year.

Another plan is to start scouting and reserving the church for my 2017 wedding. So that is one of our plans on January. If we’re done reserving the church, then we can cross out the other stuff included in the church package.

We are also planning to attend the Wedding Expo at the Mega Trade Hall on February 19, 20 and 21. However, the Komiket 2016 will be held at Centris Elements on February 20. So, since we really enjoyed our first Komiket, Ino and I will probably go there again.

Hey 2016 is a leap year! So, probably we can squeeze more plans on February.

Next would be the finalization of the entourage and guests. This will be the month where we will send our RSVPs and reserve the restaurant for the reception. Our target guests is 100 people. 50 for Ino and 50 for me. We are hoping to accomplish this on March.

If the guests and the entourage are already established, we are planning to have the gowns and Barongs scouted, counted and measured by April.

I think I have to stop planning these all by myself. My fiance is still playing computer games at the moment and reading wedding preparation blogs are not helping me at the moment. So many questions!!! It’s soooo overwhelming!

So, to continue the planning and the goal listings…

  • I want to stay fit starting this year. I’m trying to avoid softdrinks or soda but I can’t help myself and sip some when I’m really tempted. My target for this year is to reduce eating rice or to stop eating rice for good. My goal is to go to the gym regularly as well.
  • I’m hoping to lessen my loans. Or to avoid loaning this year. I really had a problem with my Globe Postpaid plan. I basically spent my 13th month on my postpaid plan last year. I also bought a phone worth 30k last year and so much more.

I hope that Ino and I won’t spend too much or loan money to the extent of paying it even after the wedding.

  • Probably be more productive this year.
  • Try to inquire in TESDA or get a TESOL or consider getting a MA not because of the fad but because I want to have a better future.

I really can’t think of any other resolutions and goals. I might figure it out as the months go by. For now, I’m happy that I have set some goals.

Komiket 2015

This entry was originally posted on my WordPress account on January 1, 2016.

This post is long overdue.

I am not a huge fan of comic books, unlike Ino. Actually going to Komiket was his idea. I don’t know much about comics or Filipino comics in general. I am not quite familiar with the who’s who of Filipino comics but I used to read Beerkada by Lyndon Gregorio on Philippine Star when I was in grade school or high school. So, I had my fangirling moment when I met him at Komiket.

These photos were taken at Komiket in Centris last October 3, 2015. It was our first Komiket so we were very excited. We went there around 3pm to 4pm until 7 PM and had a very good experience.

I know that there are duplicates but I will sort this out soon.

What is Komiket?

According to Komiket’s Facebook pageThe Filipino Komiks Market (KOMIKET) aims to discover new comics creators, new readers and celebrate new comic book launches! Kita-kits sa Komiket!:)

It was a fun experience. It was an avenue for graphic artists, illustrators, and artists who want to exhibit their self-published works. It is also for the fans to see, discover, and buy new volumes of komiks from their favorite publishers, illustrators, graphic artists, etc.

They were also selling various stuff from T-shirts to mugs to self-published comic books, different kinds of comic books, mangas, discounted comic books, etc. There was a painting session for children of all ages too. Some were also selling adult coloring books, paints, pens, paint brushes and other drawing or sketching materials.

Some famous artists and illustrators were featured in the event as well. Wait, I think I kinda mixed up the Komiket and Komikon experience. Haha! But I guess you’ll see most of these this year, if you are interested to come. Of course.

Aside from famous Filipino artists and publishers who have published their own works, there are a lot of young artists who are doing commissions too. Most of them have just started a few years ago and some of them have just joined this event. Oh! There are a lot of handsome and cute artists, and illustrators too! Hehehe…

Since I am not really good at painting, drawing, sketching, MS Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or anything artistic aside from writing and story telling… I can say that it was an awesome experience! I guess there will be more people (those who know how to draw, read and enjoy mangas, hardcore and not-so-hardcore [softcore?] comic book fans, artists, illustrators, or anyone who knows much about drawing, sketching and the like…) who will appreciate this event in 2016. I hope that they can spread the word in advance, like what I’m doing now. Haha!

Oh, Komiket didn’t pay me to advertise their event. Haha! It’s just that I really enjoyed it that’s why I’m posting everything here.

I wish that more people can go and visit the event this year. Ino and I are planning to go too.

All in all, it was one heck of an experience and I hope that this year’s Komiket would be more awesome.

Bobby Box

BobbyBox is a Korean Restaurant located at Retail J, Cyberpod Centris 3, Eton Centris.

Ino and I went to our first Komiket last October 3, 2015. We went to Centris around 1 or 2 pm. We were quite hungry already when we arrived so we scouted for a good restaurant nearby. Lucky for us because BobbyBox was really near Centris Elements, where Komiket 2015 was held.

Ino and I are suckers for Korean food. So, we instantly fell in love with their Bulgogi and Bibimbap dishes. Their food were tasty and quite affordable too. I also liked the ambiance of the restaurant because it was spacious and chic.

All in all, I recommend this restaurant to everyone who likes Korean food. If you happen to pass by Centris, don’t hesitate to try it. You won’t regret it.

DISCLAIMER: This isn’t a paid advertisement. I just really enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the service that they provided us that’s why I’m writing a food blog about them.

My 2015

I’d like to express my gratitude to everyone that I’ve met this year.

It’s not only the people that I’ve met that I’m thankful for. I am also treasuring the good times and the bad times that I have experienced all throughout the year.

Life was indeed a roller coaster ride. It was a journey.

From my numerous trials and defeats in becoming a Team Leader, to becoming a soon-to-be-wife. Who would have thought that I would be engaged on Christmas Eve? In front of Ino’s family, he asked for my hand in marriage, and since I’ve been waiting for it for the longest time, I teary-eyed said YES to him.

I couldn’t really summarize how my 2015 went. Regina got married with Paolo on November 14. Kelly was baptized in October. The team in the office was reshuffled in November as well.

I met a lot of people. I spent the whole year with the person I love. It took him 6 years, 7 months and 2 days to realize that he really wants me to be a part of his life forever.

Thank you for everyone who became a part of my life. Thank you for those who are still sticking around. Thank you, Lord for everything that you have given me and my loved ones.

And yeah, I am not confused with my faith anymore. I’m planning to go back to church and hear mass regularly again. I guess that’s one of the things that I’d like to do in starting the year right.

Thank you to everyone. I’m sorry to those that I’ve hurt.

Ulam Nation

This entry was originally posted on my WordPress account on September 17, 2015.

Last Monday, Ino and I went to Ulam Nation in Brgy. Plainview in Mandaluyong City to have lunch. It is near Citihomes so instead of going to Tapa King, we decided to check out this restaurant for a change.

The place was huge and spacey. However, the food plating was simple and the taste was also so-so. Don’t get me wrong, a simple plating is okay but they could have thought of a better way to present their dish to make it more appealing.

Perhaps it was just my high expectations, but when it comes to restaurants like this, I really look forward to their food. After all, that’s why we decided to go there. Aside from my high expectations, I think their location was also one of the reasons why not many people dine in. It was quite impassable to get there because there was an ongoing road construction by the DPWH in their area.

I guess, if the food quality is spot on, people would go out of their way to go to this place because the ambiance is really nice. My choice of food or my appetite on that day may be the one at fault, but I can’t give them a good rating because their food was just satisfactory to me. In my opinion, this restaurant can do better.

Perhaps it’s just the branch but I really don’t know. All I know is that, the price is too steep for a so-so quality of food. Hopefully, the management can improve their food quality in the future and more customers would be interested to dine in.

I give this a rating of 3 out of 5.

On a side note, the Ulam Nation in Brgy. Plainview, has already closed as of April 2016.

Sebastian’s Ice Cream

This entry was originally posted on my WordPress account on  August 15, 2015.

Hello!

We went to Podium in Ortigas, Pasig City today because I need to close my Smart Bro account. After that, we strolled at the mall and saw the ice cream parlor which reminded me of Mati‘s post.

Ino rarely offers to buy stuff when we roam around and hang-out (most especially if he’s on a tight budget.) When he offered, I knew that he just meant that we will share a scoop. I knew that he likes Cookie Dough so I ordered it and payed it myself. We decided to share and exchange scoops. However, we ended up eating our choice of ice cream.

Cookie Dough was good but it was more like a Double Dutch or a Cookies and Cream flavor to me. It was kind of a let down but we were able to enjoy the Sapin-Sapin in the end. Ino enjoyed the Sapin-Sapin better than I did because he finished it without asking me if I want more. It was okay. Although, I wished that we tried Champorado instead.

Here are photos of the ambiance of Sebastian’s Ice Cream. Enjoy!
